Meeting Park under construction, expands city's downtown
3/18/2008
Meeting Park, a new mixed-use development, is under construction at 218 Roswell Street between the library and the Marietta Square and will be an extension of the downtown offering many owner-occupied housing options, along with office and retail.
"The Marietta Square provides many lessons we can all learn from," President of Winter Properties Michael C.J. Fallon said. "We want to bring that kind of feeling and that kind of environment and extend it further into Meeting Park and make Meeting Park an extension of the Square and downtown Marietta."
Fallon envisions that Meeting Park will provide an assortment of coffee shops, indoor and outdoor dining restaurants, a bakery and flower shops. "Meeting Park will provide the kind of shops you might go to from your condominium," Fallon said.
Many people, including first-time home buyers, young couples, single professionals, and people who have raised their children and want freedom from yardwork will be attracted to the project, Fallon said. "Meeting Park will provide a more carefree style of living that allows them to do all the stuff they've been putting off."
Construction is underway now on townhomes in the first phase of Meeting Park, ranging from $250,000 to $550,000 depending on size and amenities. "The first 15 are coming out of the ground and we are looking forward to a spring grand opening," Fallon said.
Meeting Park will portray a variety of different architectural themes, and blend in with Marietta's historic streetscape, Fallon said. "I think our greatest hope would be that people would see this a decade from now and not be able to identify where Meeting Park begins and ends and not be able to recognize the new from the old. That would be the true success for us."
